RARE! Marjorie Deen was known in the 1930s as The Modern Hostess, a popular magazine columnist for Modern Screen and Modern Romance Magazines. This is a special issue "Modern Hostess Cookbook for This Season," published in Winter, 1938 featuring "hundreds of tested recipes - interesting menus for your budget, part, and everyday winter meals."

According to the introduction... "Miss Deen has won a devoted following among food-conscious housewives because of the helpful information and fine recipes featured in her Modern Hostess articles. Many of the recipes included in this cookbook are food favorites of famous people of the screen and radio; others are treasured secrets of chefs of famous restaurants in New York and Hollywood."

A great gift for anyone who loves to cook, loves Hollywood, or both! And please note, we looked it up and it doesn't appear that there's any relation between Marjorie Deen and Paula Deen!
